This is a small reminder to those planning a short visit to India from the West.
To its credit, the Indian government now provides a 30 day visa to India which applicants can purchase on-line.
In the UK, the cost of the visa is £38.00 – around €50.00. NO extension on the visa is permitted. You will receive confirmation of this online visa within two or three days. The cost of the visa has been cut by around £60.
It is important to bear in mind that, as a visa applicant, you simply state that you are travelling to India for tourist purposes such as visits to Agra, Goa, Varanasi, Rishikesh, Dharamsala, Tamil Nadu etc.
If you state in your online visa application, you are going to India to join ANY kind of course/training/retreat whether spiritual/religious/secular or to engage in voluntary work, you would have to apply for a different visa, and this could take months to secure.
We hope that many more people in the West will travel to India for the experience that it offers in a diverse number of ways.
